I’ve seen a number of posts about the ‘accuracy’ of the Darren Aronofsky’s Noah movie.

So… using quotations from two of my favourite comedians, here is exactly what I think (and why I want to face-palm) every time I see one of those posts:

First one is from Dara O’Briain:

“…and the Bible thing in particular. For God’s sake, we’ve moved on, right… but at least in this part of the the world, we don’t take it literally. There’s nobody, like there is in America, going “No, no! Genesis is a historical fact!” And you’re going “For God’s sake, Genesis was just a load of fairy stories to get the kids to go to bed on a donkey ride to Jerusalem two thousand years ago. Stop taking it literally. It’s only the Bible. It’s not gospel.”

And the second from Eddie Izzard (specifically about Noah’s ark):

“… what did he put on the boat? His family. And what else? Animals. Which animals? Any he could find. Did he put two of every animal in the world on the boat? No! How can I be so sure? Try it! Just try it!”
